Top Navigation and Maps Apps on iOS in Kenya: Q4 2024

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the iOS platform in Kenya saw notable activity among the top navigation and maps applications. According to Sensor Tower, these apps demonstrated varied performance trends in terms of downloads, active users, and revenue.

Google Maps showed a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting at around 2.3K and peaking at approximately 4.7K by the end of December. The app's weekly active users also rose from 104K to 118K over the quarter. Despite these increases, Google Maps did not generate revenue during this period.

For Google Earth, weekly downloads remained relatively stable, with a slight uptick from 232 to 400 by the end of the quarter. Active users fluctuated but ended on a positive note, rising from 2.7K to 2.9K. Like Google Maps, Google Earth did not report any revenue.

GPS Live Navigation & Live Map experienced modest download numbers, declining from 244 to 123 by the end of December. Active users saw a gradual increase, reaching 959 by the quarter's close. The app registered minimal revenue, with a brief spike to $11 in late November.

The Nairobi Expressway app maintained a consistent download pattern, peaking at 262 in early December before dropping to 115. Unfortunately, no data was available for active users or revenue.

Lastly, Qibla Compass (Kaaba Locator) had fluctuating download rates, ending the quarter at 139. Active users showed a slight decline to 127, with revenue peaking at $9 in the last week of December.
